SPRINGFIELD > Police are searching for two black men wearing orange traffic vests who robbed the Springfield Pharmacy at 1154 Baltimore Pike at gunpoint Monday morning.
Police Chief Joseph Daly said police got the call at about 10:45 a.m. that two men had entered the pharmacy and reportedly pointed handguns at the pharmacists and an assistant. A salesman inside the store was ordered to lie down on the ground, he said.
One man was skinny at about 6 feet 5 inches tall with a mustache and goatee. The other was stockier at about 5 feet 11 inches tall, said Daly. Both were wearing yellow traffic vests and gloves.
Daly said the pair made off with an undetermined amount of pills and cash. They fled down Chester Road in a taxicab that had been stolen out of Darby. Police recovered the cab from Chester Road, where it had been dumped to switch vehicles, said Daly.

The second vehicle, which Daly described as shiny and black, was driven by another man. Daly said the two men who entered the pharmacy appeared to be talking on walkie-talkies with another person, so it is possible the third man was in a trailing car or watching from a nearby location.
The pharmacy had just received a delivery when the robbery took place. Daly said police believe the robbers followed the delivery driver because deliveries do not occur on a regular schedule. The delivery driver was being interviewed Monday afternoon, Daly said.
